Wendell P. Raymond '09 was the second half of the famous college battery of Nourse and Raymond. The old timers still regard Chick Raymond as one of the great college catchers of all time. A wiry and heady receiver, Raymond was a pepper-pot behind the plate and had a whip for an arm. Time after time, with first base open, Raymond would order the batter walked intentionally just so he could pick him off base. Never known as a slugger, Raymond was a very timely hitter with men on base.
