Ambrose J. Murray '36, a crafty southpaw, hurled three years for the Bruins. In his senior year, the 5-7, 150-pounder had a 7-3 record and drew the attention of major league scouts. He won the "big" games for Brown in his senior season, defeating Harvard, 3-1, Yale twice, 5-1 and 5-3, and blanking Columbia, 10-0. An equally prominent soccer player, Murray earned All-American rating his senior year. Against Penn State, which had lost only one game in a decade, Murray picked up the hat trick with three goals. The Brown lefty pitched one year of major league ball with the Boston Braves (Bees).
