Track and Field Posts Strong Results at Brown Springtime Invitational

Brandon Buchanan (Fairfax, VA), Steve Marino (Dunbarton, NH), and P.J. Morris (Shirley, MA) dominated the 100 Meter Dash, as Buchanan placed 1st in the event, posting a time of 10.91. Marino finished in 11.03, which was good for 2nd, while Morris came in at 3rd (11.07). In the 200 Meter Dash, Jon McGowens (Atco, NJ) earned 2nd (22.53).
The Bears continued their strong sprinting, as Ed Smith (Washington, DC) and Nate Banks (Elkhart, IN) finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively in the 400 Meter Dash. Smith posted a time of 49.81, while Banks recorded a time of 51.12. Zack Weidner (Wexford, PA) was the sixth place runner (52.41), and Josh Reineke (Rye, CO) placed 7th (52.49). Luis Madrid earned 10th (52.74).
On the distance side, Jon Andruchow (West Warwick, RI) placed 7th in the 800 Meter Run (1:56.68), and Dallas Dissmore was close behind with a time of 1:59.61, which was good for 8th. In the 1,500 Meter Run,. Matt Emond (Green Harbor, MA) posted a time of 3:56.38 and a 2nd place finish. Imran Ahmad (Arcadia, CA) placed 5th (3:59.97) in that event, while Augie Funk (Foley, AL), Mike Piche (Pembrokw, MA), and Chris Relf (Baldwin, NY) came in at 11th, 12th, and 13th. Funk posted a time of 4:05.54, while Piche and Relf earned times of 4:05.62 and 4:09.48, respectively. Corey Kunz (Oakland, NJ) placed 18th (4:17.85).
In the 5,000 Meter Run, Jeff Tomlinson (Los Angeles, CA) got the top spot (14:38.04), while Erik Watz Colorado Springs, CO) and Mike Tomlinson (Los Angeles, CA) placed 5th and 6th, respectively. Watz earned a time of 15:18.63, and Tomlinson was 15:18.67. Erik Churchill and Matt Malachowski (Warwick, RI) also earned strong results in the 5,000, as Churchill finished 10th (15:40.45) and Malachowski, 13th (16:06.00).
In the 110 Meter High Hurdles, Daveed Diggs (El Cerrito, CA) was the top finisher with a time of 14.78, and Brian Hulse (Indianapolis, IN) came in 2nd (14.85). In the 400 Meter Hurdles, Eldridge Gilbert (Rockford, IL) placed 7th (1:00.19).
In the throws, Dave Glazier placed 3rd in the discus throw, measuring 46.50m/ 152'07.00.
The team returns to action on May 11 and 12 for competition at the 2002 Outdoor Heptagonals at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
