11 Women's Swimmers Earn All-Ivy Honors

Eleven members of the Brown swimming and diving team, including five freshmen, earned All-Ivy honors for their performances last weekend at the Ivy League Championship. The Championship was held at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool and Brown came away with a second place finish for the second consecutive year, behind Princeton.

Liz Daniels, a freshman from Pittsburgh, PA, was named to the second team in the 50 freestyle as she took second place in a time of 23.34. In addition, she was also a member of both the 200 and 400 free relay teams that earned first team All-Ivy honors for their record-breaking times (1:32.72 and 3:21.57) and was a member of the 200 medley relay team that earned second team honors for their second place finish in a time of 1:44.19.

Dawn Chuck, a junior from Kingston, Jamaica, earned second team All-Ivy honors for her second place finish in the 100 free in a time of 50.54, and was named first team All-Ivy for her first place time of 1:49.47 in the 200 free. In addition, she was a member of all three free relay teams that earned first team All-Ivy recognition for their record-breaking performances. She also earned a second team notice as a member of the second-place 400 medley relay team.

A freshman from Valrico, Florida, Jean Lee was named first team All-Ivy in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle events. She grabbed first place in both events with times of 4:49.49 and 16:34.76 respectively and was also a member of the 800 free relay team that broke the pool, meet, and Brown record with a time of 7:23.26.

Another freshman, Katie Fay, of Summit, NJ, earned a second team notice for her second place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.28.

Judy Koonstra, a junior from Uxbridge, Ontario, earned a second team notice as well, for her second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.63. She was also selected to the second team in the 200 IM as she finished in second place with a time of 2:04.74 and was a member of the first team 200 and 800 free relay teams as well as the second team 400 medley relay squad.

Another junior, Tinka Dancevic, of Zagreb, Croatia, was named to the second team in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.92.

A freshman from Duxbury, MA, Lindsay Hoban, earned first team honors in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.31. She was also a member of the first team 400 free relay team as well as both the 200 and 400 medley relay teams, both of which earned second team honors. Kelsey Hiatt, a junior from Denver, CO, earned first team honors in the 400 IM with a winning-time of 4:21.97, while Jenn Lears, a senior from Towson, MD, earned second team All-Ivy honors in that event with her second place time of 4:22.70.

Freshman Emily McCoy, of Anchorage, AK earned first team honors as a member of the 200, 400, and 800 free relay teams, while senior Blythe Wygonik, of Madison, CT, earned second team honors as a member of both the 200 and 400 medley relay teams and senior Lauren Pace, of Oak Brook, IL, earned a second team notice as a member of the 200 medley relay team.

Overall, the Bears had an All-Ivy representative in 15 of the 20 events, including all five relays and two events with both the first and second team honoree.
