Women's Swimmers Grab First In All 16 Events To Defeat Cornell and Columbia
The Bears won all 16 events of the meet, but it was high-lighted by three first place finishes from junior Dawn Chuck (Kingston, Jamaica). She claimed the 200 free in 1:53.02, the 50 free in :24.68 and the 100 free in :52.48.
In addition, freshman Jean Lee (Valrico, FL) grabbed first place in two events, the 1000 free (10:26.88) and the 500 free (5:04.06) as did freshman Katie Fay (Summit, NJ). Fay won the 100 and the 200 backstroke events with times of :59.36 and 2:07.73 respectively.
Junior Kelsey Hiatt (Denver, CO) also won two events, the 200 breast and the 200 IM with times of 2:23.16 and 2:09.51 respectively, while freshman diver Jen Sluder (Concord, MA) won both the 1M and 3M diving events.
In addition, the Bears completed a 1-2-3-4 sweep in four events; the 50,100 and 500 freestyle events, and the 200 fly. Freshman Liz Daniels (Pittsburgh, PA), sophomore Inbal Hasbani (Willmette, IL), and senior Lauren Pace (Oak Brook, IL) completed the 50 free, while freshmen Emily McCoy (Anchorage, AK), Laura Mosca (Charlottesville, VA), and Toni Pullman (Shrewsbury, MA) completed the 100 free.
Junior Suzanna Drodge (Torbay, Newfoundland), and freshmen Vanessa Beary (Cincinnati, OH) and Stephanie Peterson (Grand Cayman, Cayman) finished out the sweep of the 500 free, while juniors Tinka Dancevic (Zagreb, Croatia) and Kelsey Hiatt (Denver, CO) and Kierstan Creran (Haddonfield, NJ) completed the sweep of the 200 fly.
The Bears continue action next Friday, February 9 when they travel to Yale for a 5:00 p.m. meet. It is their final duel meet before the Ivy Championship, which is February 22-24 at Princeton.
