Miksis, Cirincione and Casavant Lead Men's Swimming to 161.5-91.5 Victory Over Cornell
Brown placed first in all but one event, jumping out to a 103.5-56.5 lead before Cornell claimed first and second in the 100 backstroke.
The Bears were led by a trio of swimmers, who claimed two events each. Sophomore Jeff Miksis (Cherry Hill, NJ) won both the 200 and 500 freestyle events and was also the third leg of the winning 200 free relay team.
Senior Noah Cirincione (Westlake Village, CA) placed first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events and was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team, senior diver Zack Casavant (Acton, MA) claimed both the 1M and 3M diving events.
Junior Gary Plotz (Hutchinson, MN) finished in second place in the 50 free to complete a 1-2 sweep, while freshman Jefferson Moors (Novi, MI) and senior Jason Kane (Basking Ridge, NJ) had a 1-2 sweep in the 200 IM with times of 1:56.25 and 1:56.43 respectively.
Junior Mike Peters (New Rochelle, NY) completed a 1-2 sweep in the 500 free, finishing with a time of 4:39.11, just 22 seconds behind Miksis.
In addition, Kane and junior Greg Bilton (Cohasset, MA) had a 1-2 sweep in the 100 breaststroke with times of :58.52 and :59.21 respectively, while senior diver Mike Johns (Springfield, VA) completed the 1-2 sweep on the 3M dive, behind Casavant.
In addition to Miksis, the winning 200 free relay team consisted of freshman Jeff Younger (St. Louis, MO), and juniors Kevin McCann (Doylestown, PA), and Gary Plotz (Hutchinson, MN). The winning 200 medley relay team consisted of Moors, Kane and McCann, in addition to Cirincione.
The Bears continue action next Saturday, February 10, when they travel to league rival Columbia for a tri-meet with Yale. The meet begins at 12:00 noon.
