Men Finish Third at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ - The Brown men's swimming team participated in the Princeton Invitational from December 1st-3rd and came away with a third place finish (649), behind Tennessee (1035) and Princeton (928). Penn State (402), American (398) and Villanova (170) rounded out the six-team field.

Sophomore Jeff Miksis (Cherry Hill, NJ) was the top finisher for Brown, grabbing first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.92 and third place in the 200 free with a time of 1:38.32. He also had a fifth place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.92. Senior divers Zack Casavant (Acton, MA) and Mike Johns (Springfield, VA) also scored well for the Bears with Casavant winning the 1M dive with a 300.10. Johns grabbed third place in this event with a 287.95, while he took second in the 3M dive with a 309.60. Casavant finished in fourth in the 3M dive with a 290.80.

In addition, freshman Jefferson Moors (Novi, MI) had a second place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 3:58.40, just 16 seconds behind the first place finish. He also finished in second in the 200 back with a time of 1:49.36.

Several relay teams also placed for Brown to help the Bears to their third place finish. The 400 medley relay team of juniors Jason Weber (Thousand Oaks, CA) and Kevin McCann (Doylestown, PA), and seniors Jason Kane (Basking Ridge, NJ) and Noah Cirincione (Westlake Village, CA) grabbed third place in a time of 3:23.43. The 800 free relay team consisting of Moors, junior Mike Peters (New Rochelle, NY), freshman Aron Gyuris (Thousand Oaks, CA), and Miksis also swam well, finishing in second place with a time of 6:45.14. Lastly, the 400 free relay team of Moors, Miksis, McCann, and Cirincione earned a third place finish with a time of 3:02.56.

The Bears continue action on Saturday, January 20, when they host Rutgers in a 1:00 meet.
