Women's Swimming Drops First Meet Of The Season

PROVIDENCE, RI - The women's swimming and diving team (2-1, 2-1) lost a tough meet to Ivy power Princeton on Thursday afternoon at the Smith Swim Center.

Brown won six events with senior Dawn Chuck (Kingston, Jamaica) leading the way as she won both the 200 (1:50.40) and 100 (:50.41) freestyle events and anchored the winning 400 free relay team (3:25.93). In addition, freshman Alexis Skoda (Bernardsville, NJ) won the 200 breast (2:20.12) and too third in the 100 breast (1:06.62), while senior Judy Koonstra (Uxbridge, ONT) won the 200 fly (2:02.34) and took second in the 100 fly (:56.41). Junior Laura Mosca (Charlottesville, VA) won the 100 breast (1:05.38) as did the 400 medley relay team.

Other top-three finishers included sophomore Lindsay Hoban (Duxbury, MA) - third in the 100 back (:58.70), senior Tinka Dancevic (Zagreb, Croatia) - second in the 200 fly (2:06.91), sophomore Liz Daniels (Pittsburgh, PA) - second in both the 50 (:23.74) and 100 (:51.98) free, sophomore Emily McCoy (Anchorage, AK) - third in both the 50 (:23.92) and 100 (:52.24) free, senior Kelsey Hiatt (Denver, CO) - third in both the 200 breast (2:22.83) and 200 IM (2:07.94), and the 200 medley relay team grabbed second (1:44.89), while the second 400 free relay team grabbed third (3:34.16).

The Bears continue action this weekend when they will participate in the US Open in New York and at the Northeastern Invitational.
