Consiglio Wins Overall Individual Title as Bears Finish Season Fourth in MacConnell Division

Mt. Ascutney, VT - Freshman Krista Consiglio (Bethany, CT) took first and fourth in her final two regular season races to claim the individual title in the MacConnell Division with a total of 225 points, 46 points more than her closest competitor. The first skier at Brown to earn the overall individual title, Consiglio raced through the season, finishing in the top 10 of all 10 of the Bears' races, including winning four. The Bears entered the weekend tied four fourth in the standings with Plymouth State and with a third place finish in both days, were able to finish ahead of the Panthers with 38 points, to PSU's 42.

On Saturday, Consiglio won her fourth race, clocking in at 1:36.73, more than one second ahead of the second place finisher. Junior Anna Bengtson (St. Johnsbury, VT) finished in a career-best 10th place, posting a total time of 1:41.03. Senior Sophie Elgort (New York, NY) earned the Bears third time, 1:42.14, to finish in 18th, while senior Meaghan Casey (Bristol, CT) recorded the final time to count towards team standings, 1:46.46, good for 29th.

Rounding out Brown's finishers were senior Mallory Taub (Waitsfield, VT) in 37th with a time of 1:52.33, sophomore Elisa Handbury (Sydney, Australia) in 39th with a time of 1:52.50, and senior Kimberley Casten (Manhattan Beach, CA) in 46th with a time of 1:58.95.

On Sunday, Consiglio and Bengtson were Brown's top finishers again, with Consiglio grabbing fourth place (1:40.56) and Bengtson finishing in 14th (1:43.45). Freshman Blaine Martin (Salt Lake City, UT), who has battled illness for much of the season, was the sixth Brown skier down the slope and came in 17th place with a time of 1:43.70. Elgort rounded out the top-four in 19th with a time of 1:44.29. Casey (32nd), Taub (41st), Casten (44th), and Handbury (73rd) closed out the race for the Bears.

Brown now has two weeks to prepare for the ECSC Regionals, which will take place at Waterville Valley, February 23rd-24th. The top five teams at Regionals will advance to the USCSA National Championships to be held March 3-8 at Sunday River, ME.
