The Brown University Women's Skiing team Skied their way to a firs place finish in the giant slalom and a second place finish in the slalom in the Boston College Carnival this weekend February 7th and February 8th.
The Bears competed in the slalom first where they turned in a total time of 313.07. Leading the way for the Bears was senior captain Doria DiBona (Waterville Valley, NH) with a total time of 1:43.25 for a third place finish.
Also recording a top ten finish was senior Adrienne Jones (Bristol, VT) who came in fifth place with a total time of 1:44.36. Junior Molly Sheinberg (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) grabbed 12th place with a time of 1:45.46 as freshman Hilary Swafield (Wolfeboro, NH) recorded a time of 1:47.53 for 15th place.
Freshman Caitlin Stanton (Hanover, NH) recorded a time of 1:49.76 to grab 21st place as fellow freshman Stephanie Breakstone (Sparta, NJ) came in 25th place with a time of 1:52.25. Also skiing for the Bears was freshman Casey Schwarz who recorded a 46th place finish with a total time of 2:25.28.
The Bears then went on to compete in the giant slalom where they brought home a first place finish with a time of 301.66 over three seconds less than the next closest team. DiBona led the team once again recording a third place finish with a time of 1:39.18.
Two other Brown skiers recorded top ten finished in Stanton with a time of 1:41.21 for eighth and Swaffield for ninth with a time of 1:41.27. Breakstone came in 14th place with a time of 1:42.41 as Schwarz recorded a 27th place finish with a time of 1:49.16.
Skiing but not finishing their runs for the Bears was Jones who did not finish the first run and Sheinberg who did not finish the second run. The Bears have two carnivals left before heading into the ECSC Regionals.
