Princeton, MA - The Brown women's skiing team competed in the Slalom portion of the Brown Carnival on Saturday, January 28th at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA. The Bears posted a total time of 284.41 to take fifth place, behind UMass, Boston College, Colby Sawyer, and Plymouth State.
Junior Kelly O'Hear (Niagara Falls, NY) led the Bears with a fourth place finish, clocking a total time of 1:31.82. Senior Jamie Johnson (North Kingstown, RI) was next for the Bears with a 16th-place finish, earning a time of 1:35.08, while sophomore Sophie Elgort (New York, NY) finished in a time of 1:37.51, good for 20th. Junior Janet Marley-Mauzy (Westport, CT) was right behind Elgort in 21st, skiing a time of 1:37.71. Sophomore Mallory Taub (Waitsfield, VT) rounded out the Brown skiers in the top 30, placing 24th with a time of 1:40.76.
Still in third place in the competitive McConnell Division, the Bears will look to get back on the winning track when they take part in the Giant Slalom of the Brown Carnival at Loon Mountain on Saturday, February 4th. Sunday, February 5th will feature the make-up portion of the season-opening UConn Carnival at Mt. Cranmore, NH. The Slalom events, originally scheduled for January 14th, were canceled due to poor racing conditions.
