WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH - The Brown women's skiing team moved up to fourth in the Macconnell Division standings with a first place finish in the slalom at the Plymouth State Carnival, held at Waterville Valley, NH. The Bears had three skiers place among the top seven, as freshman Kia Mosenthal (Plymouth, NH) posted a total time of 1:32.08 to place third and lead the Bears, who had a total time of 278.94, just ahead of the 279.58 posted by Colby Sawyer, which had won the first four carnivals this season.
Sophomore Krista Consiglio (Bethany, CT) was fifth with a total time of 1:33.10, while junior Elisa Handbury (Sydney, Australia) took seventh with a total time of 1:33.76, as the Bears had their best day of the season so far. Senior Anna Bengtson (St. Johnsbury, VT) also had a strong day for Brown, placing 23rd with a two-run time of 1:38.47. Freshman Emily Simmons (Buffalo, NY) rounded out Brown's top five, taking 42nd with a total time of 2:00.17.
The Bears continue action tomorrow at Waterville Valley, closing out the second day of competition with the giant slalom races.
