Bears Finish in Sixth at 2013 USCSA National Championships
The Brown women’s skiing team finished in sixth place overall at the 2013 USCSA National Championships, after a seventh place finish in the giant slalom and a fourth place finish in the slalom. Sierra Nevada won the event, winning both the giant slalom and slalom for a total of two points. Rocky Mountain College came in second with four points, after taking second in both events, while St. Olaf College rounded out the top three with six points, after earning third in both events. The University of British Columbia and St. Anselm tied for fourth with 10 points each.

Women’s Skiing Wins USCSA Eastern Regional Championship for Second Straight Year
he Brown women’s skiing team continued its undefeated season, winning both the giant slalom (Saturday) and the slalom (Sunday) at the 2013 USCSA Regional Championships to claim the Eastern Regional Title for the second consecutive year. Leading the way for Brown was sophomore Nika Mosenthal (Plymouth, MA), who finished second in the overall standings with 150 points after taking fourth in the giant slalom and winning the slalom. Junior Emma Leblanc (Darien, CT) took fourth overall, earning 90 points, with a fifth place finish in both the giant slalom and the slalom.

Leblanc Named ECSC MacConnell Division Skier of the Year; Five other Bears Earn ECSC All-MacConnell Division Honors
Junior Emma Leblanc (Darien, CT) was named ECSC MacConnell Division Skier of the Year for her first place finish in the overall ECSC MacConnell Division individual standings, marking the second straight season that a Brown skier has been named the Skier of the Year. In addition to Leblanc, five other Bears were named All-MacConnell Division, as Brown finished the regular season undefeated.

Skiing Finishes Regular Season Undefeated With Pair of Wins at West Mountain
The Brown women’s skiing team posted a pair of wins, one in the giant slalom and one in the slalom, at West Mountain on February 16th and 17th. In Saturday’s giant slalom race, Brown finished with a total time of 5:18. 81, more than 10 seconds ahead of second place Castleton State (5:29.44). Clarkson rounded out the top three teams with a total time of 5:32.49. In Sunday’s slalom race, Brown finished with a team total of 5:07.71, while Castleton State took second (5:21.15) and St. Anselm finished in third (5:25.77).

Skiing Remains Undefeated on With Pair of Wins at Crotched Mountain
he Brown women’s skiing team posted a pair of wins, one in the slalom and one in the giant slalom, at Crotched Mountain on February 2nd and 3rd. In Saturday’s slalom race, Brown finished with a total time of 5:42. 50, nearly 14 seconds ahead of second place Castleton State (5:56.33). St. Anselm rounded out the top three teams with a total time of 6:06.36. In Sunday’s giant slalom race, Brown finished with a team total of 5:49.19, while St. Anselm took second (5:54.82) and Castleton State took third (6:01.68)

Skiing Remains Undefeated on Season with Pair of Giant Slalom Wins
The Brown women’s skiing team posted a pair of giant slalom races at the Clarkson Carnival, hosted by Whiteface Mountain in New York. The wins were Brown’s fifth and sixth in a row this year, as the Bears remained undefeated on the season. On both days, Brown’s total team time was at least 10 seconds ahead of the second place team, as St. Anselm came in second both days and Castelton State took third in both races.

Skiing Wins Two More Races to Remain Perfect on Season
The Brown women’s skiing team continued its strong start to the 2013 season, winning two more races over the weekend. After opening the year with a pair of slalom races, the Bears won their first giant slalom race of the season, held Friday at Gunstock Mountain. Brown returned to Blackwater Ski Area the next day and won its third slalom race of the season, sweeping the podium to lead the team field by nearly 10 seconds.

Skiing Wins Second Slalom Race in a Row
The Brown women's skiing team finished its first carnival of the 2013 season by winning its second slalom race in a row. Skiing at the Castleton State Carnival, hosted at Pico Mountain, the Bears were led by junior Emma LeBlanc (Darien, CT), who claimed second place in both runs to finish second overall with a time of 1:14.60. Overall, Brown had five skiers in the top 10, while a sixth finished just outside the top 10 in 13th place, as the Bears had a total time (four skiers) of 5:04.81. St. Anselm followed in second place with a total team time of 5:10.87, while Castleton State rounded out the top three with a total time of 5:14.25.

Skiing Opens Season With Slalom Win at Pico Mountain
The Brown women’s skiing team opened its 2013 season by winning the slalom race at the Castleton State Carnival, hosted by Pico Mountain. The Bears’ top three skiers combined for a time of 3:53.71, while Castleton State finished in second with a total time of 3:55.26. Clarkson rounded out the top three teams with a time of 3:55.71. Sophomore Nika Mosenthal (Plymouth, NH) finished in fourth overall with a two-run time of 1:16.83 to lead Brown.
