Gymnastics Creates Wall of Honor
Dec. 10, 2004
As Brown Gymnastics began this 32nd season as a varsity program, the team honored its legacy by painting its All-Time Roster on one of the walls of the Pizzitola practice gym. Each former Brown gymnast (and coaches) received a commemorative brick that acknowledges her name, years of affiliation, and hometown. Current and future team members will paint their own information on the wall to symbolize their initiation into the Brown Gymnastics community.
The effort to compile and record an all-time roster for the team commenced at the end of the 2003-2004 season. Former Head Coach Jackie Court presented to Head Coach Sara Carver-Milne a box of scrapbooks from the first twenty-eight years of the program. Noticeably absent from this box of history was a cumulative list of all the people who had been affiliated with the team. With the help of the alum and former coaches, senior tri-captain Melissa Forziat compiled the missing information and created a complete list of former team members.
The creation of the Brown Gymnastics Wall is an effort to foster a greater sense of history and pride among current and future team members, as well as a recognition of the continued support of those who were on the team in the past. The team welcomes all visitors to see the wall in the Pizzitola practice facility.
