Finst Named ECAC Gymnast of the Year

March 25, 2004

PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior Jayne Finst (Delray Beach, FL), of the women's gymnastics team, was named ECAC Gymnast of the Year, earning the honor for the second straight season. The first Brown gymnast to earn this elite honor, Finst is also the only gymnast in the history of the ECAC to earn Gymnast of the Year recognition in two straight seasons.

Finst, who holds Brown records on every event except the bars, has been one of the Bears' most consistent performers since her freshman season. Her all-around record stands at 39.175, her vault record at 9.775, her beam record at 9.925, and her floor record at 9.90.

In each of the last three seasons, including this season, Finst has scored the top Brown mark in at least three events. As a freshman, it was the bars, beam, and floor; as a sophomore it was the all-around, bars, beam, and floor. Last season, she scored the top mark on everything but the bars, and this year, Finst was Brown's top scorer on every single event.
