Three Gymnasts Qualify For USAG Nationals

The Bears had three members qualify for USAG Nationals that will be held on Thursday, April 14, at Cornell University. Senior Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) qualified for the floor, junior Amber Smith (Fort Myers, FL) qualified in the all-around and junior Sarah Cavett (Chattanooga, TN) qualified for the uneven bars. Individual all-around qualifier Smith will be unable to compete because of an injury.

Forziat has lead the Bears on the floor all year, having her best mark a 9.775, come in a meet with Bridgeport and Yale, on February 20. Forziat has been one of the most consistent floor competitors this season, finishing almost every meet as one of the Bear's top performer in the event. Also getting her highest mark a 9.700, on February 20, Cavett has been dependable and a top performer for the Bears all season.

The two will take on the best from around the country on Thursday, April 14 at Cornell University. The top eight in each event will qualify for the finals, which will be held on Saturday April 16.
