Durham, NH - The Brown gymnastics team placed fourth (184.500) behind the competitive squads of Michigan State (194.000), University of New Hampshire (193.925), and West Virginia (193.075) on Saturday night at UNH.
Although the Bears didn't have anybody finish in the top three of any event, freshman Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) was Brown's top finisher on the vault, bars, floor and in the all-around.
Sacramone vaulted a 9.700, securing a sixth place finish. Michigan State's Rochelle Robinson received a perfect 10.000, followed by West Virginia's Jaime Gold with a 9.875 and UNH's Helena Diodati with a 9.8. Brown freshman Alanna Kwoka (San Mateo, CA) earned a 9.550 and sophomore Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA) recorded a 9.350.
On the bars, Sacramone brought home the team's highest score with a 9.275. Freshman Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA) was Brown's second best with a 9.100. Sobuta was the top finisher on the beam, earning a 9.750, taking seventh.
Sacramone recorded Brown's top score on the floor exercise, posting a 9.775. Both sophomore Whitney Diederich (Naperville, IL) and Kwoka posted season highs on the floor. Diederich had a 9.425 and Kwoka posted a 9.625. Sobuta also finished well with a 9.575.
Competing in the all-around was Sacramone and Sobuta, who both posted a 37.475, Kirkham-Lewitt with a 37.050 and Kwoka ended with a 36.925.
The Bears are back in action at home on Sunday, Feb. 18 when they take on Bridgeport at 1:00 p.m.
