Forziat Earns ECAC Honors

Providence, RI - Senior tri-captain Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) was named ECAC Women's Gymnastic Coaches Choice Award for her performance this past weekend at Yale University. Forziat scored a 9.3 on the vault placing seventh, placed second on the beam with a 9.625 mark and finished the day with a third place finish on floor exercise with a 9.75.

A team captain, Forziat has proven why she derseves the position time and time again. When head coach Sara Carver-Milne asked Forziat what she wanted for her senior year, she answered, "I want to help and inspire my teammates." A floor and beam specialist, Forziat noticed the loss of five seniors last year had a huge impact on the Bears' line-up. Determined to help the team, Forziat demonstrated her team first attitude and learned a new vault routine. Thought her determination and hard work Forziat earned a spot in the vault line up and now adds a new dynamic to her overall performance. This weekend at Yale. Forziat turned in the second highest score in vault for the Bears.

Forziat and the Bears will return to action Saturday, February 5th, when they travel to Rutgers for a quad-meet with Rutgers, Pittsburgh, and Brockport for a 1:00 start.
