New Haven, CT - Sophomore Victoria Zanelli (Katy, TX) and sophomore Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA) posted solid scores during the preliminary round at the USAG Collegiate National at Southern Connecticut State last night. Zanelli earned USAG All-American status on the beam, and was named a first alternate for event finals tomorrow night.
Zanelli gave a strong effort last night as she posted a 9.725 on the beam for a 12th place finish. She also earned scores of a 9.375 on the vault, a 9.250 on the bars and a 9.075 on the floor exercise. Her all-around score of 37.425 tied for 11th place, as she just missed USAG All-American status by one spot.
Binkley also competed well last night and had a solid effort as well. Her 9.6 on the vault tied for 20th place, as she posted a 9.4 on the beam, and a 9.450 on the floor exercise for 33rd and 36th place, respectively. She combined for a 36.475 in the all-around, which ranked 18th.
