Williamsburg, VA - The Brown gymnastics team finished in eighth place at the ECAC Championship's hosted by William & Mary on Saturday afternoon after tallying a team score of 183.050.
Freshman Vicki Zanelli (Katy, TX) earned Bruno's best score on the vault (9.350) and came in 21st overall, as the Bears earned a combined score of 45.400. Also finishing well were freshmen Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA) with a 9.275, and Melissa Bowe (Barnstable, MA) with a 9.150. Zanelli also earned Brown's highest score on the bars, posting a 9.600 for 21st place. Also turning in a solid performance was Bowe (9.525) and Binkley (9.400) to help Brown to a total score of 45.925.
The floor exercise was the Bears' best event, as the team totaled a 46.375. Leading Brown was Binkley, who turned in a 9.575 effort for 25th place. Finishing behind Binkley was junior Whitney Diederich (Naperville, IL) with a solid 9.525. Senior Hannah Goldstein (New York, NY) and sophomore Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA) each posted a 9.150.
Junior Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA) earned a 9.650 on the beam for 16th place, and Kirkham-Lewitt posted a 9.400. Binkley was Brown's next finisher with a 9.000. Binkley was Bruno's top all-arounder, earning a total of 37.250 for 12th place, followed by Zanelli (36.325) and Bowe (36.100).
Goldstein was also named an ECAC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
