Kingston, RI - The gymnastics team came in eighth place at the ECAC Championships this afternoon posting a 186.05 team score beating James Madison and just falling to Temple who recorded a 186.55. Brown's top performance of the day came on the floor exercise as the team finished with a 47.375.
On vault the Bears edged out second place William & Mary 46.775-46.65. Brown's top performance in the event came from senior Jessica McNell and sophomore Sarah Durning who each recorded a 9.525, which was ninth in the event. Freshman Brittany Anderson scored a 9.275 in the event.
On bars Anderson finished with Brown's top mark a 9.4 while senior Miriam Straus was right behind her with a 9.35. Senior Sarah Cavett had a fall on her dismount but still rounded out the top three finishers for the Bears, tallying a 9.1.
Brown finished ahead of Rhode Island, James Madison and Temple on the beam, posting a 46.1 team score. Anderson tallied the third best mark in the event, a 9.575, earning First Team All-ECAC Honors. Sophomore Jessica Pestronk also had a strong performance on beam recording a 9.475, seven best in the event. Durning rounded out the Bear's top finishes tallying a 9.15.
On the floor Anderson and junior Jessica Pouchet recorded the Bear's top mark, a 9.575, good for ninth place. Freshman Rachel Foodman finished with a 9.45 while senior Amber Smith rounded out Brown's top finishes with a 9.425.
The Bears will wait to see who will compete in the USAG Collegiate National Championships which will be held at Cornell on April 13-15. The selections will be announced this week.
