Gymnastics Takes Third at Ivy Classic With 189.425

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The women's gymnastics team scored a 189.425, placing third in the Ivy League Classic, behind Yale, which scored 192.30, and Penn, which scored a 192.00. Cornell rounded out the competition with a 187.675.
Junior Jayne Finst led the way, winning the vault with a 9.60 and taking second in the all-around with 38.70. She also placed second on the beam with a 9.775 and sixth on the floor with a 9.825.
Freshman Amber Smith also had an impressive day for the Bears, taking third on the bars with a 9.875 en route to a new Brown record. The old record of 9.85 had stood for ten years. Smith also placed fifth in the all-around with a 38.125.
The Bears continue action next Saturday, March 8, at Rutgers, with Yale and Michigan, in a 1:00 p.m. meet.
