Brown Gymnastics Takes Third at Ivy Classic

The women's gymnastics team took third at the 2004 Ivy League Classic, scoring a 193.500, while bringing its record to 8-7 on the season. Senior Jayne Finst (Delray Beach, FL) led Brown, taking the Ivy Title in the individual all-around, with a 39.175, and the beam, with a 9.825.

Senior Gina Verge (Scituate, MA) also had a strong day with a 39.150 in the all-around, good for second place, and a personal-high 9.900 on the floor, good for second place.

Finst led Brown on the vault with a 9.75, taking fifth place, while sophomore Jessica McNell (Darien, CT) took sixth with a 9.725. Finst also led Brown on the bars with a 9.825, earning fourth place, while Verge took fifth with a 9.800. In addition to Finst's first place finish on the beam, Verge and junior Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) tied for fifth with a 9.625.

The Bears continue action on Friday, March 5th, when they travel to Rhode Island College for a 7:00 meet with RIC and Springfield.
