Gymnastics Falls to URI, 190.875-190.425, In Tight Match

The Brown women's gymnastics team dropped a close meet to URI, 190.875-190.425, falling to 7-7 on the season. Junior Jayne Finst (Delray Beach, FL) led the way for the Bears, winning the individual all-around with a 38.925. Junior Gina Verge (Scituate, MA) took third in the all-around competition with a 37.975, while freshman Amber Smith (Fort Myers, FL) grabbed fourth in the all-around with a 37.350.

Finst placed second on the vault, leading all Bears, with a 9.700, while Smith took third with a 9.55. Finst also grabbed second on the bars with a 9.725, while freshman Sarah Cavett (Chattanooga, TN) took fifth with a 9.65, followed by Verge with a 9.525.

On the beam, Finst led all Bears with a 9.75, good for third, while Verge took fourth with a 9.70. Senior Sarah Keil (Morristown, NJ) placed fifth with a 9.675. Finst placed fourth on the floor with a 9.75, tying with teammate Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY), while Smith placed eighth with a 9.575.

The Bears continue action on Sunday, March 2, when they will travel to Penn for the Annual Ivy League Classic, which begins at 1:00 p.m.
