Brown Gymnastics Defeated by Towson and UPenn

Philadelphia, PA - The Brown gymnastics team earned third place in a meet against the University of Pennsylvania and Towson on Saturday afternoon with a season-high 187.300 points. Towson came in first with a 192.850 and Penn came in second with a 189.725.
On the vault, the Bears tallied a team score of 46.600 and were led by freshman Carli Wiesenfeld's (Atlanta, GA) fifth-place finish with a 9.525. Sophomore Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA) followed right behind with a 9.500 for sixth and freshman Lilly Siems (Baltimore, MD) turned in a 9.450 good for eighth.
Wiesenfeld also led Brown on the bars, as she earned a team-high 9.450 for her routine for ninth place. Siems came in 11th with a 9.300 and Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA) added a 9.200 and Vida Rivera (Jackson Heights, NY) tallied a 9.175 as Brown earned a team score of 46.125.
On the beam, freshman Lauren Tucker (Farmington Hills, MI) turned in Brown's top performance with a 9.575 for eighth place, while Siems earned a 9.525 for 10th as the squad tallied a total score of 47.100. Wieselfeld also had a solid performance with a 9.475, as did Binkley (9.425) and Victoria Zanelli (Katy, TX) with a 9.100.
Brown's best event of the afternoon was on the floor exercise, as the team combined for a 47.475. Binkley led Bruno with a seventh-place finish with a 9.625, followed by freshman Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY) with a 9.600 for eighth and senior Whitney Diederich (Napervile, IL) in ninth with a 9.550. Also performing well was Siems with a 9.500 and Helen Segal (Los Altos, CA) with a 9.200.
Brown now takes on West Chester and Southern Connecticut tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
