Bears Take Second at Sacramento State Meet

Sacramento, CA - The women's gymnastic team (0-3) had a second place finish this afternoon posting a 183.875 mark at the Sacramento State meet this afternoon. Sacramento took first with a 188.75 score.

Junior Amber Smith (Fort Myers, FL) led the Bears scoring a 36.85 in the all-around for a third place finish. On the vault, Brown had a 6-7-8 finish with freshman Sarah Durning (Roswell, GA) taking sixth with a 9.475 score. With a 9.375, Smith took seventh and junior Jessica McNell (Darien, CT) posted a 9.3 for an eighth place finish.

In bars junior Sarah Cavett (Chattanooga, TN) posted a 9.55 mark for a second place finish while, senior Kelly Moran (Chevy Chase, MD) and freshman Hannah Goldstein (New York, NY) came in third and fourth with 9.475 and 9.1 scores.

Senior captain Melissa Forziat (Garden City, NY) took second place in the beam with a 9.625 while Smith placed fourth scoring a 9.4 and Cavett turned in a 9.325 for a fifth place finish.

In the final event, the floor exercise, the Bears took seventh and eighth finishes, with Forziat taking seventh with a 9.5 and Smith coming in eighth with a 9.475 mark.

The Bears will have their home opener Sunday, January 23 when they will host MIT, Southern Connecticut and Ithaca for a 1:00 start.
