Olson Places Second on Bars, Gymnastics Concludes Stay at USAGs

SEATTLE, Wash. – Junior Anya Olson placed second on bars in the Individual Event Finals as Brown University gymnastics totaled five USAG All-America honors at the 2017 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships on Sunday afternoon at Seattle Pacific University's Brougham Pavilion.

Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) scored a personal-best 9.850 to tie for second on bars and earned First Team USAG All-America on the event, collecting the first USAG All-America honors of her career.

Senior Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.) qualified to compete in the individual finals on vault and beam with her scores in Team Preliminary Session No. 2 on Friday but did not compete on Sunday due to injury.

With her performance in Friday's prelims, Mitchell gained First Team USAG All-America honors in the all-around as well as on vault and beam. She concluded her career with six USAG All-America honors, including three awards in the all-around.

Sophomore Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) gained Second Team USAG All-America accolades as an alternate on vault.

As a team, the Bears placed fifth in Friday's second preliminary session with a 192.225. Mitchell paced Brown with a 38.825 in the all-around, posting the fifth-highest all-around score between the two preliminary sessions.
