PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Caroline Morant won the all-around and three event titles as Brown University gymnastics won its quad meet with Southern Connecticut, Rhode Island College, and the University of Rhode Island behind a season-high 192.650 at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.
In their home regular season finale, the Bears captured the quad meet with their 192.650, finishing ahead of second-place SCSU (190.850), third-place RIC (177.650), and fourth-place URI 171.650.
Morant (Chicago, Ill.) claimed the all-around title with a 38.725, and won event titles on vault, beam, and floor while junior Anya Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) won the bars title.
As a team, Brown scored a season-high 48.750 on beam, a 47.925 on vault, a 47.725 on bars, and a 48.250 on floor.
Prior to the meet, Brown honored the members of its class of 2017 – Morant, Tori Kinamon (Peachtree City, Ga.), Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.), Brooke Williams (Clyde Hill, Wash.), and manager Renee Edelman (Maple Grove, Minn.) – for their dedication to the program.
On vault, Morant paced the Bears with a 9.775 while sophomore Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) tied a personal best with a 9.675 for third place. Freshman Anne Christman (Amherst, N.H.) set a career high with a 9.600 for fourth, Olson tallied a 9.500, and freshman Ally Rudd (Olympia, Wash.) notched a 9.375.
Olson led Brown on bars with a personal-best 9.775 as the Bears swept the top three spots in the event. Junior Maggie McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) came in second with a season-high 9.650, and Mitchell placed third with a 9.600. Rudd and Morant logged a 9.500 and 9.200 respectively.
Moving to beam, Morant again led the way with a personal-best 9.875 with Mitchell following with a career-high 9.850 for second place. Junior Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) finished the top-three sweep with a season-high 9.775 for third. Green tallied a 9.700 to tie her personal record, and Christman compiled a 9.550.
Finishing on floor, Morant scored a season-high 9.875 for first, Christman registered a personal-best 9.725 for third, and Olson came in fourth with a 9.700. Sophomore Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) and McAvoy rounded out the scoring with a 9.675 and 9.275 apiece, including a personal best for Hagenbuch.
Next, Brown heads to St. Charles, Mo., to compete at the GymQuarters Invitational on Friday, Feb. 17 at 3:00 p.m. ET and in a meet at Lindenwood on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
