PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Senior Caroline Morant placed third in the all-around and on floor as Brown University gymnastics finished in third place with a 190.650 in a quad-meet at Rutgers with No. 10 Nebraska and West Chester at Livingston Gym on Saturday night.
Morant (Chicago, Ill.) – who posted the Bears' top score on all four events – came in third in the all around with a 38.975 and third on floor with a 9.850.
In the team standings, the nationally ranked Cornhuskers won the meet with a 196.050 while the host Scarlet Knights came in second with a 194.200. The third-place Bears topped the fourth-place Golden Rams (190.475).
As a team, Brown set season highs on vault (48.150) and floor (48.275) while scoring a 47.950 on bars and a 46.275 on beam.
On vault, Morant led the way with a 9.750 while sophomore Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) and freshman Ally Rudd (Olympia, Wash.) each scored a 9.675. Freshman Anne Christman (Amherst, N.H.) posted a 9.575, and junior Anya Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) tallied a 9.475. All five gymnasts posted their top scores of the season on the event.
Morant paced the Bears on floor, tying for third with her 9.850. Olson followed with a 9.750, and Christman registered a 9.600. Sophomore Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) and Green rounded out Brown's scoring with a 9.550 and 9.525 respectively. Each performer set a season high on the event.
On bars, Morant recorded a team-high 9.700, freshman Erin Howell (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) logged a 9.650, and junior Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) posted a 9.600. Junior Maggie McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) and Rudd complemented the group with a 9.525 and 9.475 apiece with McAvoy compiling a season high.
Morant's 9.675 led Brown on beam while junior Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) and Ryan tallied a 9.500 and 9.450 respectively.
Next, Brown hosts Bridgeport on Friday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bears' "Beauty and the Beast" meet with the Brown wrestling program.
