Gymnastics Sets New Season-High Team Score at SJSU, 194.075

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Junior Caroline Morant earned the all-around title with a personal best, and Brown University gymnastics set a new season-high team score with a 194.075 at San Jose State University with UC Davis on Sunday afternoon at the Event Center.

Morant (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a career-high 39.125 to win the all-around for the second time this season. She set two season highs and posted Brown's top score on three events. Senior Diana Walters (Austin, Texas) supported her with a 38.075 in her first all-around performance of the season.

On the second and final leg of their West Coast trip, the Bears came in third with their season-best score. UC Davis won the tri-meet with a 195.575 while San Jose State placed second with a 194.925.

As a team, Brown scored a 48.450 on vault, a 48.575 on bars, a 48.350 on beam, and a 48.700 on floor, tying a season high.

On vault, Morant led the Bears with a season-best 9.800 to tie for fourth while freshman Gabrielle Hechtman (Bellmore, N.Y.) established a new personal best with a 9.750. Senior Corey Holman (Westford, Mass.) scored a 9.700, Walters posted a season-high 9.625, and junior Brooke Williams (Clyde Hill, Wash.) tied her season high with a 9.575.

Morant paced Brown on bars behind a 9.750 to tie for third. Walters and sophomore Maggie McAvoy (Charlotte, N.C.) each registered a 9.725, tying a season best for McAvoy. Senior Alexandra Chretien (Commerce Township, Mich.) finished with a 9.700, and sophomore Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) tallied a season-high 9.675.

On beam, Holman set and junior Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.) tied her respective personal best with a 9.800. Morant and Ryan notched a 9.725 apiece, tying a career high for Ryan. Sophomore Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) had a 9.300.

Morant compiled a season-high 9.850 to lead Brown on floor with Walters following with a season-best 9.825. Williams finished with a 9.775, Chretien logged a personal-best 9.700, and sophomore Anya Barca-Hall (Santa Cruz, Calif.) tied a season high with a 9.550.

Next, Brown hosts Temple, Southern Connecticut State, and Rhode Island in a quad meet on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m. in the Bears' home finale.
