Gymnastics Scores Season-High 192.875, Finishes Third at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Brown University gymnastics tallied a season-high score of 192.875 to finish in third place in a quad meet at Rutgers University along with No. 21 Michigan St. and Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon at the Livingston Recreation Center.

The Bears notched a season high on three events as a team – 48.350 on vault, 48.450 on bars, and 48.650 on floor – to top UW-Oshkosh (188.325). Brown fell to the Spartans (194.950) and the host Scarlet Knights (194.350).

In the all-around standings, junior Diana Walters (Austin, Texas) came in second with a score of 38.550, and sophomore Caroline Morant (Chicago, Ill.) finished third with a 38.425. Freshman Anya Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) scored a 34.625 for fifth.

On vault, Morant and Walters each paced the Bears with a score of 9.750, tying for fifth in the event. Senior Danielle Hoffman (Bedford, N.Y.) registered the third-highest score for Brown with a season-high 9.700 while Olson and sophomore Jorden Mitchell (Indianapolis, Ind.) each posted a 9.575.

Walters again led Brown on bars, recording a season-high 9.800 to earn fourth place. Junior Alexandra Chretien (Commerce Township, Mich.) came in seventh on the event with a score of 9.725. Morant and freshman Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) each tallied a 9.650, and Mitchell followed with a 9.625.

On the beam, Ryan registered the top score for Brown, finishing in seventh with a season-high 9.725. Sophomore Brooke Williams (Clyde Hill, Wash.) posted the second-highest score for the Bears with a 9.600, and freshman Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) tallied a season-high 9.575.

Morant recorded Brown's best score on floor with a season-high 9.825 to finish in a tie for fourth. Williams finished in seventh with a season-best 9.800, Hoffman registered a 9.725, and Walters posted a season-high 9.675.

Next, Brown competes at New Hampshire with Towson and West Virginia on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m.
