Chretien, Morant Grab ECAC Gymnastics Weekly Awards After Record-Breaking Weekend

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Brown gymnastics freshman Caroline Morant (Chicago, Ill.) earned Corvias ECAC Division I Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season and sophomore Alexandra Chretien (Commerce Township, Mich.) was tabbed Specialist of the Week for the second time following their roles in the Bears' record-breaking performance last Sunday. The duo set two personal records each and helped Brown set the school record with a 194.125 team score.

Morant was solid on all four events for the Bears again this week in competition, helping Brown break the school record for team total with a 194.125. The previous record was set 11 years ago. She also helped the Bears break the school record on bars with a 48.8. She earned a personal-best 38.825 in the All-Around as well as a personal best 9.850 on floor. Morant's all-around was the tops among ECAC freshmen this week.

Chretien had a career-high 9.850 on bars and a first-place finish, leading the Bears to a new school-record on the event. Brown also broke an 11-year old school team total record. Her score on bars is the second-highest score in school history, only 0.025 away from the school record.

 
Brown returns to action at William and Mary with North Carolina and Rutgers on Friday at 7 p.m.
