PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Freshman Corey Holman (Westford, MA) and senior Julia Meyer (Granite City, IL) were honored with two of the ECAC's weekly gymnastics awards for their performances this past weekend.
Holman was named Co-Rookie of the Week and is the second consecutive Brown gymnast to obtain the honor. She played a huge role in the Bears' success against UNH and Temple, serving as the first performer on both beam and floor. The freshman earned a score of 9.625 to place 13th on the beam and then registered a mark of 9.675 to take 11th on the floor.
"Corey's composure and confidence as our lead-off for beam and floor has been instrumental in building our scores throughout the line-up this season," said head coach Sara Carver-Milne.
Meyer earned the title of Specialist of the Week, posting huge scores in each of her two events to help the Bears to a team total of 191.750. In the uneven bars, the senior scored a 9.675, a team-high, to finish in sixth place. She added a score of 9.750 on the beam to finish in a tie for seventh.
"Julia has become one of our most consistent performers," said Carver-Milne. "As a senior, her leadership and experience shine in each competition, as she continues to be a clutch performer on both beam and bars."
Brown will head to New Jersey on Saturday, February 2, to compete at Rutgers with Pittsburgh and Southern Connecticut in a 6:00pm meet.
