Providence, RI- Senior Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY), freshman Allison Rubenstein (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) and sophomore Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, IL) earned ECAC honors at the ECAC Championships hosted at the University of Pennsylvania last Saturday afternoon. The Bears also had a total of 12 student-athletes named to the ECAC All-Academic Team.
Goddard was named the ECAC Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year after maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout her four-year career with the Bears. Last season, Goddard was selected to the ECAC All-Academic team, earned NACGC/W Academic All-American honors, and competed on the floor at the USAG Collegiate Nationals. This season, she earned ECAC Specialist of the Week honors on March 13 after earning career-highs on the vault (9.700) and floor (9.800).
Rubenstein earned Second Team All-ECAC on the balance beam after a fifth-place finish at the championships with a 9.725. She has earned career-highs of a 9.472 on vault, a 9.725 on the beam and a 9.650 on the floor for Brown this season.
Shnayder, a First Team USAG All-American on the floor in 2011, received Second Team All-ECAC honors after posting a 9.800 on the floor to earn fifth place overall. She was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week on March 7 after she combined for a career-high 38.825 in the all-around, while also earning a career high on the vault (9.775).
The Bears will now be competing at the USAG Collegiate Championships hosted at the University of Bridgeport on April 12-14.
