Durham, NH- The Brown University gymnastics team combined for a team score of 191.575 to finish in fourth at a quad meet hosted at the University of New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. Bridgeport captured the title with a 196.350, followed by host UNH with a 195.800 and University of Maryland-College Park with a 194.875.
Freshman Michelle Shnayder was Brown's top scorer on vault with a 9.775 for seventh place, followed by Becca Freedman and Katie Rodgers in 16th place with a 9.625. Emily Lutfey earned a 9.600 for 20th and Katie Goddard and Danielle Hoffman rounded out the scorers with a 9.500 for 22nd overall giving the Bears a combined score of 48.125 (4th).
Kasey Haas earned the top spot on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.750 for 14th place, as Shnayder and Lilly Siems followed close behind with a 9.625 earning 18th. Julia Meyer (9.175), Nicole Abdo (9.125) and Lauren Hall (8.975) rounded out the Bears' competitors as the squad combined for an overall team score of 47.300 (4th).
Julia Meyer recorded a 9.725 on the balance beam to earn Brown's top score of seventh place, and Abdo followed in 11th with a 9.700. Danielle Hoffman posted a 9.650 for 17th and Shnayder finished 19th with a 9.625. Rounding out the scorers was freshman Allison Rubenstein (9.125) and Lutfey (9.075) to give Brown an overall score of 47.825 (4th).
Shnayder turned in a 9.800 on the floor exercise for 10th place, as Goddard followed with a 9.725 for 17th and Lutfey posted a 9.675 for 18th. Abdo earned a 9.600 for 21st as Rubenstein (9.525) and Haas (9.300) completed the scoring to help the Bears to a score of 48.325 (4th).
Shnayder combined for a 38.825 in the all-around competition to finish in second place behind Bridgeport's Monica Mesalles (39.450).
