    Former Brown Standout, Alicia Sacramone, Qualifies for 2012 Olympic Trials Providence, R.I.- Former Brown University gymnast Alicia Sacramone became the most decorated American gymnast in World Championship history when she earned her 10th medal at the 2011 World Championships. Now, just eight months after an injury, Sacramone is eyeing a spot on the Olympic Team, for the second-straight Olympiad.

    Katie Goddard Named to Academic All-District Team Providence, RI- Brown University gymnast Katie Goddard '12 has been named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District I At-Large team for her efforts in the gym and the classroom. She will now advance to the national ballot to compete for a spot on the Academic All-American team.

    Two Bears Earn USAG All-American Honors; Danielle Hoffman Qualifies for Event Finals Bridgeport, CT- Freshman Danielle Hoffman (Bedford, NY) was named a USAG All-American on the vault and qualified for event finals and junior Emily Lutfey (Los Angeles, CA) earned USAG All-American status on the floor exercise at the 2012 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships hosted at Bridgeport. Individual event finals will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.

    Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity athlete teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

    Brown Gymnasts Earn ECAC Honors Providence, RI- Senior Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY), freshman Allison Rubenstein (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) and sophomore Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, IL) earned ECAC honors at the ECAC Championships hosted at the University of Pennsylvania last Saturday afternoon. The Bears also had 12 student-athletes named to the ECAC All-Academic Team.

    Bears Finish Fifth at ECAC Championships Philadelphia, PA- The Brown University gymnastics team earned a season-high score of 192.250 to finish in fifth place overall at the ECAC Championships hosted at The Palestra at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. The host Quakers earned the team title with a 194.400, followed by Towson (194.375) in second, Temple (192.450) in third and Cornell (192.350) in fourth. The Bears defeated sixth place William & Mary (191.925) and Yale (191.450).

    Bears Capture Victory over Southern Connecticut on Senior Day Providence, RI- The Brown University Bears captured titles on three of the four events this afternoon en route to a 190.750-188.550 victory over the visiting Southern Connecticut Owls on Saturday afternoon. The Bears honored their three seniors who were competing in their final home gymnastics meet of their careers: Lilly Siems (Baltimore, MD), Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY) and Carli Wiesenfeld (Atlanta, GA), prior to the start of the meet.

    Bears Take Down Cornell in Dual Meet Providence, RI- The Brown gymnastics team defeated the visiting Cornell Big Red 189.300 to 187.200 in a dual meet on Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Junior Julia Meyer (Granite City, IL) and sophomore Michelle Shnayder (Lincolnshire, IL) each won titles for the Bears this afternoon, as Meyer captured the bar title and Shnayder won both the floor and all-around competition.

    Brown Gymnastics Earns Third at Bridgeport Bridgeport, Conn – The Brown University gymnastics team compiled a team score of 190.375 to finish in third place at a tri-meet hosted at Bridgeport University on Thursday evening. Three-time USAG Champion Bridgeport captured the meet title with a 195.675, followed by Southern Connecticut State University with a 190.975.

Bridgeport captured the title with a 196.350, followed by host UNH with a 195.800 and University of Maryland-College Park with a 194.875.

The Bears combined for a team score of 191.075, falling just short of first place Penn (192.650), second place Cornell (191.875), but finished ahead of the Yale Bulldogs (190.725).

Stanford's first place total was 196.375, followed by Bridgeport's 191.725.

The Purple Knights captured first place with a 191.800, followed by the Bears, and then Rhode Island College in third with a 169.250.

    Sara Carver-Milne Welcomes Two Newcomers to 2012 Roster Providence, RI- Head Coach Sara Carver-Milne has announced the addition of freshmen Danielle Hoffman (Bedford, NY) and Allison Rubenstein (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) to the Brown University gymnastics team. The two newcomers will join 13 letterwinners on the Bears’ squad and will kick off their season at 2 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the Pizzitola Sports Center, in a meet against Bridgeport and Rhode Island College.

    Carver-Milne Names Goddard and Siems 2012 Gymnastics Captains Providence, RI- Head gymnastics coach Sara Carver-Milne announced that seniors Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY) and Lilly Siems (Baltimore, MD) will serve as team captains for the 2012 season. Both received ECAC All-Academic honors and were also NACGC/W Academic All-Americans.
