Ann Arbor, MI- Brown University sophomore Emily Lutfey competed in the all-around at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional Championships hosted at the University of Michigan's Crisler Arena over the weekend.
Lutfey was Brown's lone gymnasts competing at the Regionals for the Bears. Lutfey's best event of the day was on the floor exercise, where she earned a score of 9.725. Lutfey received a 9.650 on the vault, but fell on both the beam (8.9) and bars (8.4). All-around, she combined for a score of 36.675.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native earned All-ECAC honors on both the vault and floor exercise, and received ECAC Gymnast of the Week several times this season. She earned the honor on March 15 after solid back-to-back meets earning a career-high 38.925 in the all-around followed by a 38.7. She also earned a career-high on the floor with a 9.825 and hit all four events in both of those meets, leading the Bears to a school record on beam and on bars on March 7, then again breaking the school record on bars at the meet on March 12. She also led Bruno to the highest team total (193.675) since 2003.
Her other ECAC nod this season came on Feb. 16 when Lutfey helped guide Brown to its highest team total (191.500) in seven seasons, while leading the Bears to new school records on vault (9.75) and bars (9.75). She earned Brown's highest score on vault, bars and floor (9.775), and the second highest score on beam (9.500).
Last season, Lutfey competed at the USAG Collegiate Nationals in the all-around and earned All-ECAC in four events. She was a Second Team All-Ivy Classic selection in the all-around with a 37.500 and had career-high scores of 9.725 on the vault, 9.550 on the bars, 9.700 on the beam and 9.725 on the floor.
