Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team will "Pink out the Pitz" in support of Breast Cancer Awareness when it takes on Bridgeport, Southern Connecticut and MIT at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The Bears will also be honoring their two seniors, Victoria Zanelli and Chelsey Binkley prior to the start of the meet.
The Bears will be sporting special Breast Cancer Awareness leotards on Sunday, and ask that all fans wear pink to show their support! A portion of the cost of Brown's leotards goes toward breast cancer research, and the Bears will have donation jars at the entrance of the gymnasium, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
The Bears are coming off a third-place finish at the Ivy Classic last Sunday afternoon, and scored a season-high 191.5 the week before during a quad meet with New Hampshire, Michigan State and Alaska.
Bridgeport, the two-time defending USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Team Champions, have moved into the number one spot in the country in this week's USAG National Team Rankings. The Purple Knights are coming off a season-high 192.825 in a quad meet at Maryland.
Southern Connecticut is coming off a 191.775-187.775 loss to Towson last Friday evening and dropped to 9-4 on the 2011 season. The Owls will compete against Rutgers, Cornell and West Chester on Saturday, a day prior to competing at Brown.
