Gymnastics Ranked No. 15 in NACGC/W Academic Standings

Providence, RI- After a successful season in the gym, the 2010 Brown University gymnastics team has been rewarded for their hard work in the classroom as well. On Tuesday, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced the 2010 Academic Team Rankings, placing Brown as the No. 15 team in the nation. The Bears accumulated a 3.4392 grade point average (GPA) while seven team members earned individual honors as well.

Sophomore Katie Goddard (Education & Public Policy) and Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Architecture and Art History) were the top honoree for the Bears joining 65 additional NCAA Division I female gymnasts who have earned a 4.00 cumulative GPA.

In addition, Helen Segal (Chemistry) and Kasey Haas (Political Science) received honors for their 3.9 GPA, while Lily Siems (Cognitive Science) earned a 3.72, Chelsey Binkley (English) combined for a 3.7 and Vicki Zanelli (Commerce, Organizations & Entrepreneurship) rounded out the Brown honorees with a 3.6.

Sixty-five NCAA Division I teams were included in the team rankings while 305 student-athletes were named to the individual honors list. In order to earn an individual honor, student-athletes must have a 3.50or better cumulative GPA.
