Julia Meyer & Katie Goddard Earn ECAC Gymnastics Honors
Providence, RI- Brown University gymnasts Julia Meyer and Katie
Goddard have recently received ECAC gymnastics honors after their
solid performances at meets last weekend. Meyer earned ECAC Rookie
of the Week honors, while Goddard received the ECAC Coaches’
Choice award.
Meyer had an incredible weekend for the Bears, earning personal
bests on both bars (9.7) and beam (9.7), the only two events she
competes in. She was Brown’s top scorer on both events last
weekend and showed great maturity and poise.
Goddard, an extremely determined student-athlete, was uncertain if
she would be able to compete this past weekend due to an injury.
However, she pulled through for the team in a big way, even though
she competed on an event for the first time in her career. Despite
never competing on the vault, she learned a 9.9 valued vault this
season so she could contribute on an event where the team lacks
depth. Goddard earned one of Brown’s top scores with a 9.575.
In addition, she continued to be solid on floor, winning the event
outright with a 9.625.
The Bears are back in action this weekend when it travels to
Alaska Anchorage for meets on Friday and Sunday.
