Gymnastics Team Honored as Scholastic All-Americans by NACGC/W

Providence, RI- The Brown University gymnastics team was recently honored by the National Association for Women's Collegiate Gymnastics (NACGC/W) for its exemplary year of academic performance.  The team combined for a 3.451 grade point average, which ranks 10th overall in the nation.   Nine individuals on the Brown squad were also recognized on the Scholastic All-American team for their outstanding performance in the classroom.  

Stephanie Albert (Sanibel, FL), Chelsey Binkley (Marietta, GA), Melissa Bowe (Barnstable, MA), Whitney Diederich (Naperville, IL) Katie Goddard (Kings Park, NY), Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt (Venice, CA), Helen Segal (Los Altos, CA), Jennifer Sobuta (Maynard, MA) and Lauren Tucker (Farmington Hills, MI) all received recognition.

A total of 67 stduent-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs for the 2009 academic year and 428 earned Scholastic All-America status as a result of GPAs of 3.5 or better for the year.  The NACGC/W seeks to actively manage and develop the sport of women's gymnastics at the collegiate level and works with the NCAA and USA Gymnastics in order to provide the best possible experience for student-athletes.
