Men's Golfers 5th At New England Championship

The Brown men's golf team came together at the end of the Fall season with a fifth place finish at the 67th Annual New England Championship, held in Brewster, Mass. The Bears, who captured the Rhode Island Intercollegiate Championship two weeks ago, shot a two day 606 (299-307) for their best finish ever in the 46-team field at the New England Championship.
Coach Bob Kenneally's team placed fifth behind New England powers Rhode Island (584), Hartford (591), Central Connecticut (599) and Connecticut (604). The Bears were the top finishing Ivy League team, ahead of Dartmouth (614) and Harvard (616).
Junior Kevin Buchert (Short Hills, NJ) led the Bears with a two-day 147, carding 70-77 on the par 72 Captains Course. Buchert finished seventh overall in the 228-player field and earned All-New England honors.
Freshman Robert Chen (Orangeburg, SC) completed a strong Fall season by finishing 15th overall, shooting 72-79-151. Senior captain Ed Yoon (East Greenwich, RI) was 33rd overall at 154 (77, 77), while freshman Danny Wallis (Los Gatos, CA) shot 156 (80-76) to place 39th overall. Junior Matt Koenigsdorf (Kansas City, MO) also scored for the Bears, shooting 85-77-162.
