Schneider Earns All-Ivy Fencing Honors

March 13, 2006

Princeton, NJ - All-American Ruth Schneider '06 has earned First Team All-Ivy Honors in women's epee. Schneider, one of Brown's most successful fencers ever, is the Bear's first-ever All-Ivy honoree.

Schneider's correct 2005-2006 individual record against Ivy League opponents was 13-5 (.722), not 12-6 (.677) as originally tabulated. Schneider is one of only four fencers to earn First-Team honors in women's epee this season. Her record places her in a three-way tie for the second-best individual bout record in the event.

Although Brown fencers have regularly squared off against their Ivy opponents in NCAA and ECAC competitions, this season marked the first time that Brown competed officially in the Ivy League, making this the inaugural year that Brown's fencers were eligible for All-Ivy honors.
