Ervin Szucs joined the Brown fencing coaching staff in 2013 and will assist Head Coach Atilio Tass with all aspects of the program. Szucs brings extensive playing and coaching experience at the collegiate, club and Olympic levels.
A native of Hungary, Szucs began his coach career at the Csomorkány Fencing Club in 2000 and has since gone on to coach at various high level clubs and camps in the United State and Hungary. Szucs has also mentored many nationally-prominent competitors, including a handful of Junior Olympians and three-time Hungarian Olympic team member Andras Peterdi.
Szucs earned a fencing coach degree from Semmelweis Univeristy. A three-weapon master, he holds certifications in epee, foil and saber in addition to certifications as a referee and armorer.
As a competitor, Szucs placed as high as second in the Hungarian National Point Standings. He is currently the CEO of International Fencing Management and a coach for Extreme Fencing Studio in Providence.
