Fencing Collects Nine Northeast Fencing Conference All-Star Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Umar Masood won the NFC Men's Rookie of the Year Award to lead a group of nine NFC All-Stars for Brown University fencing, the Northeast Fencing Conference announced on Sunday at the annual NFC Coaches and Captains Meeting.

Masood (Pittsford, N.Y.) stood as the top first-year male fencer in the conference with a 21-4 record (.840) and also gained Second Team Foil accolades.

Two-time NCAA All-American and senior Simon Jones (Louisville, Colo.) took home First Team Epee with a 24-4 record (.857) as did junior James Yoon (Austin, Texas) behind a 24-5 (.828) mark.

Senior Kyle Kennedy (Wall, N.J.) garnered First Team Foil, posting a record of 24-1 (.960). Senior Robert Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) joined Masood as a Second Team Foil honoree with a 20-5 record (.800). Junior Alex Palabrica (Los Angeles, Calif.) gained Second Team Sabre behind a 24-5 mark (.828).

On the women's side, sophomore Clarissa Allen (Newtown, Pa.) claimed First Team Foil with a 29-5 record (.853), and classmate Signe Ferguson (Wilmington, Del.) captured First Team Epee behind a 21-4 (.840) mark. Senior Audrey Lee (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) earned Second Team Foil with a 28-5 record (.849).

As a team, Brown won the NFC Men's Three-Weapon title.
