Brown Primed for First Northeast Fencing Conference Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bears fencing squad heads to the University of New Hampshire this weekend for the first of the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) two tournaments this season. The first event will start at 9 a.m. The Bears will face Boston University, UNH, Sacred Heart, Wellesley (women-only) and UMass.

"I am very confident in our strength and look forward to repeating a strong
result at this event," said Brown head coach Atilio Tass. "The men's team has suffered two very close upsets, both by the minimum difference of one bout against BC and Sacred Heart last year. Our objective for this weekend is never the less than to redeem and bring back victories. This is going to be our challenge and objective for this weekend."

"The constitution of the schedule for this weekend's competition at UNH
is very mixed on the level of ability," said Tass. "For the most part, the women team has dominated this competition, as evidenced by last year's results. The strongest opponent to keep close watch will be BC, but we will not face them until the second NFC tournament."
