Three Student-Athletes Named CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Three Brown student-athletes – all seniors - have been selected to the District I ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large teams. All three of Brown's nominated student-athletes were selected to the men’s team with fencer Adam Pantel (Mendham, NJ) and water polo standout Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) both earning First Team honors. Men’s ice hockey forward Aaron Volpatti (Revelstoke, BC) earned a spot on the Second Team. By virtue of their selection to the All-District First Team, Pantel and Holland will now advance to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America national ballot. For the At-Large process, schools may nominate up to three student-athletes for the men's team and three student-athletes for the women's team. All three of Brown’s honorees were also recognized as Academic All-Ivy selections this year during the competition season for their respective sport.

Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Bears Finish 21st at NCAA Fencing Championships
The Bears completed competition at the 2010 NCAA Fencing Championships on Sunday, finishing in 21st place out of 27 teams with 17 points. Brown senior Adam Pantel (Mendham, NJ) notched 10 victories in the men’s foil competition over two days, placing 17th in the event.

Taylor Places 19th at NCAA Championships
Brown freshman Caitlin Taylor (Elk Grove, CA) finished competition in the women's saber at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Harvard University, on Friday. Taylor finished with a 7-16 mark, which was good for 19th place out of 24 fencers. As a team, Brown stands in 18th place out of 20.
