Brown Fencing Charges Up to 15th After Day Three of NCAA's
Columbus, Ohio – The Brown fencing team moved up six spots on day three of the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championship hosted by Ohio State, to move into 15th overall with one day of competition remaining. . The Bears benefited from sending five fencers making the championship, the most in program history.
Teddy Weller racked up seven team points during the first two days of fencing and Brown added 17 more points on day three of competition as four Bears competed on the women's side.
Caitlin Taylor competed in the sabre event and after the first day is in 21st, picking up three team points for the Bears.
Brown boasts two women's fencers in the foil. Rookie Kathryn Hawrot stands in 18th overall, while Avery Nackman is in 22nd. Hawrot registered five team points, while Nackman added three more.
Cory Abbe made sure Brown was represented in each weapon, competing in the epee. Abbe currently stands in 17th overall for the event and picked up six team points.
