Weller Finishes in 19th at 2011 NCAA Fencing Championships
Columbus, Ohio – Brown men's fencer Teddy Weller competed for the second day in a row at NCAA's, hosted by Ohio State and finished 19th overall in the sabre. Brown fencing currently stands in a tie for 21st overall and is just two points back of 19th. The Brown fencing team sent more student-athletes to the NCAA Championship this year than it ever has in program history.
Weller finished with seven points in the weapon, one more than his total on day one, to finish 21st in the country this year in the saber.
Brown will have four women compete over the next three days. Kathryn Hawrot and Avery Nackman in the foil, Cory Abbe in the epee and Caitlin Taylor in the saber will have have bouts in the 2011 finals.
Women's competition begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Women's championship bouts take place Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Ohio State's St. John Arena. Live stats can be followed at www.prisedefer.com/NCAA and live video can be found at www.NCAA.com.
All six Ivy League fencing schools are competing at the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championship. Havard (4th), Princeton (6th), Penn (7th), Columbia (10th), Yale (11th) and Brown (21st). There are 53 fencers repesenting the Ivy League in 2011.
