Equestrian Finishes Third at Nationals

CAZENOVIA, NY - The Brown equestrian team finished third at the national championships over the weekend of May 3-5.
In a closely contested competition, the Bears came in third with 21 points behind first-place Ohio University with 27 points and host-school Cazenoiva College with 22 points.
Senior Amanda Forte (Glenmoore, PA) placed second individually in the Cacchione Cup, a combined jumping and flat competition among the top open riders in each region. Forte also placed second individually in the open flat, first in open fences in the team competition, and fourth in the open flat.
Sophomore Amanda Burden (New Seabury, MA) placed first in walk-trot canter, freshman Galyn Burke (Corte Madera, CA) came in fourth in walk-trot, and senior Amanda Henry (Skillman, NJ) placed sixth in novice flat.
The third place finish at nationals is the best ever in Brown history. The Bears placed fifth in the 2001 nationals.
